Who We Are  and What We Do

The Friends of North Bradley School, known as “The Friends”, is a well established, registered, independently run charity which was set up for the sole purpose of raising much needed extra funds for North Bradley Primary School.

The Friends are a very approachable, informal team of parents, staff and associates of the school who put on a wide variety of fundraising events to raise money to purchase additional items which will be of benefit to the children in school.

Year on year, there are a mixture of fundraising events, some large some small.  These consist of an annual Scarecrow Trail (our biggest event of the year), Christmas Festivities, race nights, summer fetes, sporting events, Easter activities, quiz and film nights and chocolate bingo.

These events go alongside our regular cake Fridays, which occur once every half term, the monthly 100 Club which is open to family, friends and villagers, the 2nd hand uniform shop, our clothes/textiles recycling bin (located in the school car park) and through online purchases via Easyfundraising.org.uk.

We have also been extremely lucky and appreciative for cash donations which have been so generously contributed. For further information on any of the above mentioned fundraisers, please feel free to contact us using the contact details below.

Our Achievements

Over the last 7 years we have generated a staggering income of just over £43,000!!  We are very proud to have been able to contribute £10,000 towards a new kitchen, purchase the Outdoor Classroom costing £6,604, £4,000+ for new reading books, fund visits from Life Bus at approximately £620 per year (£4,400).  As well as these larger expenses, we have purchased laptops, violins and an assortment of classroom equipment – and most recently, we were pleased to cover the cost of a desperately needed new sound system for the School Hall.

The incredible amount of money we have raised has been made possible by the wonderful support we have always received from the children, their family and friends and the local community, without who’s continued support, we would not be able to fundraise for such a worthy cause.

Our Aim’s

We are currently fundraising for eight brand new white boards, one for each classroom. This project will help the school in upgrading the current whiteboards which are becoming a little tired. This project will have a tremndous impact on teaching and learning across the whoel school.  The overall cost is in the region of £15,000.  Although the whiteboards are the priority request, should smaller items be required in the meantime, we will endeavour to do what we can to contribute to at least a portion of the costs.

The Friends have a large totaliser on the wall outside Cherry Classroom which is regularly updated to show how much money we have raised so far, by what means and will visibly show us getting nearer and nearer to our target!

How We Keep You Updated

We use a variety of sources to keep everyone updated with any news, activities or fundraisers that The Friends would like to share with you.  These are via:-

Home Contacts - We do NOT hold any personal contact details, all messages sent out to you through Parent Mail, always goes via the School Administrator first.

Facebook – This is an optional source of contact, if you are on Facebook please feel free to join our group.  This is a closed page and its contents can only been seen by its members, all members are approved as “known to us” prior to acceptance.

Noticeboard/Posters – The Friends have an outside noticeboard which can be found on the main school playground. This is used to communicate upcoming events and activities.

Book bags – We try, wherever possible, to avoid paperwork in book bags to help keep the paper usage to a minimum but occasionally we will use this as a means to contact you.

Newsletters – The Friends issue a Newsletter with details of all upcoming events, results of recent fundraisers and dates for your diary.
