  • Victorian Day in Explorers Class

    Mon 29 Mar 2021

Year One have been exploring what it was like to be at school during Victorian times. The boys and girls have been kept separated sitting in rows. They have written on slates, counted by rote and named the countries of Great Britain. The boys did drill and girls practice deportment. Mrs Bray was very strict and one unlucky child had the “cane!”

  • Dan the Skipping Man

    Mon 29 Mar 2021

We had a fantastic day on Wednesday with Dan the Skipping Man.  The skipping instructors spent time with every class and children learnt individual skipping tricks, long rope and Double Dutch skipping.  We hope everyone has enjoyed practising their new skills at home.

  • Furry Friends Visit Storytellers Class

    Wed 17 Mar 2021

This week Storytellers were lucky enough to have a visit from some furry friends, some local Lambs visited our outdoor area. We were able to ask questions about Bruno and Barney, feed them milk and stroke them! We learnt a lot about where they live, how they grow and why they have numbers sprayed onto them! Many thanks to Lisa Flowers for organising.

  • Book Week at North Bradley Primary School

    Mon 08 Mar 2021

We hope everyone has enjoyed our book week, it has been fantastic seeing the children taking part in a wide range of activities.

Storytellers Class: Storytellers have been busy drawing the front covers of their favourite books for the book hunt,Cleo created the front cover of Woolly the Sheep and put it in her window! Amazing Cleo, so clear and detailed!

Explorers Class: Year One have been discussing their favourite books this week, writing book reviews about them and thinking about questions they would like to ask their authors. They have also watched the illustrator Lydia Monks (who works with Julia Donaldson) model how to draw and then copied illustrations of their favourite characters. They are finishing the week by doing a Book Scavenger Hunt.

Creators Class: This week we found out about lots of the authors behind the World Book Day books and got very creative for World Book Day in Creators Class. We have written stories about the time we saw a dinosaur near our homes, created our own storytelling tins to inspire us to write some very magical stories and made our own storytelling theatres and characters at home.

Adventurers Class: In Adventurers class we have been dino-spotting with the author and illustrator Jonny Duddle. We have made dino-spotting notebooks containing our favourite dinosaurs and have been inspired to write our own dino-spotting stories thinking about how we might travel back in time!

Conquerors Class: In Conquerors class we have made origami bookmarks and created posters to encourage a love of reading.

Pioneers Class: We have been having fun doing the Masked Reader this week. The children have recorded themselves reading a page from their book and the class had to guess who it was.

Innovators Class: Year 6 have been taking part in the Author and Illustrator academies, completing their daily book challenges. We have met some very famous authors including Jeff Kinney – Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Derek Landy – Skulduggery Pleasant. We have also dressed potatoes, carrots, eggs and bananas to look like our favourite book characters and identified as many book characters as we could in MC Grammar’s World Book Day rap.
